Ben Agbee “The Power of Creativity” ![]() Ben Agbee is one of the most successful Ghanaian artists, who has over the years carved a niche for himself with extremely evocative works. Agbee exhibits a talent that is markedly original and vigorous. His acrylic paintings are in vibrant and earthly colour, mainly of women in attractive clothing and incorporate unusual shapes. His works, with all kinds of figures, images and symbols, border on abstract, impressionism, landscape and realism, which lead to a myriad of interpretations. Ben Agbee has worked hard for himself to provide a platform to continuously devote his time to painting. His recent works resonate finely expressed forms of market women with a controlled multiplicity of colour textures. Perhaps a significant trademark of his latest works are cultural symbols, line and colour patterns. His use of palette knife technique and brushwork often evokes silhouette forms that fade gradually into unfinished yet plausible images. Agbee’s paintings constantly demonstrate his commitment to figurative compositions within market scenes, music and cityscapes. Agbee has displayed his works in Ghana, Europe, Canada, the United States and New Zealand. His works are in numerous private collections worldwide. Agbee generously donates part of his sales proceeds to assist young artists, the Oppurtunities Industrialisation Centre he was trained at and the Cardio Thoracic Centre at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra. Agbee gives thanks to his uncle, Mr. Victor Amenyibor for his guidance, advice and direction and also to his parents. He also thanks God Almighty and Novotel, Accra for sponsoring a recent exhibition (2006). His greatest hope is to continue unveiling his talents in the arts for the benefit of mankind and to the glory of God, his maker.
